BC Mental Health & Substance Use (BCMHSUS)

BCMHSUS provides a diverse range of provincial specialized one-of-a-kind mental health and substance use services; and provincial leadership for system-wide improvements through their work in health promotion & illness prevention, knowledge exchange, research and academic teaching.

BCMHSUS operates throughout the province in various locations. The central offices, and many programs and services are located in the Mental Health Building at the Children and Women’s Health Centre of BC in Vancouver.

Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – British Columbia Division

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), BC Division exists to promote the mental health of British Columbians and support the resilience and recovery of people experiencing mental illness.

They do this through, advocacy, education, community-based research and services, as well as the support they provide to the 14 CMHA branches throughout BC.

Here to Help

HeretoHelp is a project of the BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions Information.
They are a group of seven leading mental health and addictions non-profit agencies. Since 2003, they have been working together to help people live well and better prevent and manage mental health and substance use problems.

BC Partners work is funded by BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority.  They also receive some additional support from the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre

The BC Children’s Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre provides mental health and substance use information and resources, assistance navigating the mental health system, as well as free personalized support from parent peer support workers. Services are available to families across BC and Yukon with children and youth up to age 24, by phone, email, virtual meeting, or in person at The Kelty Centre. Many online resources, educational events and webinars are also available for parents and caregivers, and school professionals.

The Kettle Society

The Kettle Society supports people living with mental illness to lead healthier lives by:

  • Providing Housing, employment, advocacy and support services
  • Raising awareness of mental health issues and breaking down the barriers
  • Promoting the inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society

The Kettle provides over 3,600 individuals with 26 services, a mental health drop-in, a transition house for women and over 200 units of supported housing.

The Kettle is committed to practical and non-judgemental harm reduction strategies in all its work, as it has been for over 35 years.

The Kettle has a holistic approach that views physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life as interconnected and equally important.
