Grace Chen was appointed as a member of the Tribunal for a four-year term commencing on February 28, 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia (2005) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University (2002).
Ms. Chen initially practiced as a civil litigator. She represented plaintiffs in cases involving personal injury, medical negligence, civil assaults, police negligence, and product liability. Ms. Chen was also a lawyer at the Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia. She oversaw the legal affairs of children in the areas of abuse, neglect, and injury. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Chen was a Vice-Chair at the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal. She decided appeals between workers and employers on matters involving discriminatory action and compensation.
